The story begins when we were children, and for the first time, we experienced science fiction. Whether it was Star Wars, Iron Man, or other mind blowing engineering projects, something sparked in us the question we all had in our little minds: Can I build this too?

 

When I first watched The Big Bang Theory or Big Hero 6 (Baymax) and saw people competing with fighting robots, my heart raced faster than ever before. Something inside me said, “When I’m older, studying engineering at university, I want to be a nerd like them.”

 

Eventually, I arrived in Munich, drawn by the renowned engineering programs at TUM. Like many others, I was eager to meet people with the same passion. I didn't specifically look for robotics clubs, but I assumed there would be one where like minded nerds could collaborate. After all, it’s TUM surely there would be a robotics club, right? Well, I was wrong.

My dream of joining a club to build fighting robots was not only hindered by my lack of knowledge and experience, but also by the absence of such an initiative.

 

And that’s exactly why we founded RoboTUM. We are the first and only robotics initiative at TUM, and we are excited to present to you our project: RoboRumble. We build, innovate and compete in Robot fighting competitions.

 

There’s not much more to say about our vision because if you choose to join us, you already share it. The type of robots we build depends on the competitions we tackle, and we are certainly preparing for one right now. The only thing we expect is your dedication and passion. Bring the heart and energy that lights up when building robots alongside us.
